Hokkaido detour for cherry blossom 2023/9/26 18:59
Is it worth a detour up to Hokkaido for 2 days to see the cherry blossom and experience sakura?

We will be touring Tokyo, Hakone, Kyoto area where our timings will miss cherry blossom but we could maximise our stay in these regions if we donft detour up to Hokkaido.

It takes time/money to get to Hokkaido.
However, when are you actually travelling? Cherry blossom in Tokyo runs for around six weeks for the core spring season.

This year, I wrote an article about cherry blossoms in Sapporo using a pen name, so please refer to it. (Please use translation software)

In the north and east of Sapporo in Hokkaido, ``Somei Yoshino'', commonly called cherry blossoms, do not bloom.
Therefore, the cherry blossoms are characterized by a darker color than the cherry blossoms of Honshu.
For information on areas other than Sapporo, please check here.

The cherry blossom season was early this year, but with that schedule, you'll probably be able to see cherry blossoms in Tohoku as well.
