Vaccination is not compulsory, but Article 19 (Suspension of Attendance) of Section 4 "Prevention of Infectious Diseases" of the School Health and Safety Act states, "The principal has or is suspected of having an infectious disease. ``If there is a child or student who is at risk of such an incident, their attendance may be suspended pursuant to the provisions of a Cabinet Order.''
In Akita Prefecture, during the measles outbreak in 2008, Akita Prefecture applied regulations and suspended those who had not been vaccinated from attending, leading to a quick end to the outbreak. If so, there is a possibility that your attendance will be suspended as well.
