Using 2 rail passes

I am planning to go to Osaka first then to Kanazawa. And will be getting the JR Kansai Area Pass and Hokuriku Area Pass.

Can I use both passes at the same time so I no need to get off the train at Tsuruga station?

Yes, you can select starting dates for each of them completey independently from each other.

So how do I use both passes thru Tsuruga station seamlessly without getting off the train? Do I scan both passes at Osaka station?

I have a certain feeling that it is not possible seemlessly. I suspect that if you use the autumated gates, there will be an error (the Hokuriku Pass will be rejected in Osaka, and the Kansai Area Pass will be rejected in Kanazawa). I suspect you will have to go through the manned gates and explain your situation to the staff.
