Culture Day in Hakone 2023/10/13 12:27
Hi Guys!

Ifm heading down to Japan and accidentally schedule my Hakone day trip on Nov 3rd falling on Culture Day. We wanted to explore the whole city by doing the pirate ship tour, the black egg, museum and even visiting an onsen. There isnft any information on whether things will be closed or not, like stores or restaurants. Can anyone let me know their experiences?

On November 3rd, the Daimyo Parade is held in Hakone Yumoto, so the area is especially crowded.
I've seen it once too.

In Japan, there are a lot of customers on holidays, so few stores close.

3rd Nov is a Friday so it will be a long weekend.
My number #1 recommendation is "AVOID"
Weekends are bad, holiday weekends are worse. If you are forced to go that day, do a clockwise loop and the queues are simply bad, not a nightmare. I see people waiting an hour for the ropeway last holiday weekend I needed to visit. Now, I simply don't schedule guests in Hakone on weekends because it is too awful IMO.
