Foliage in Hokkaido during early November?

I just booked a flight to Chitose from 2-8 November hoping to see foliage as it seems to come late this year. I plan to stay at Jozankei onsen on the first day but not sure about the rest. Any recommendation?

Also we'll be driving, do we need winter tires by then? Thank you in advance.

I am also renting a car in early November, and have just received a confirmation email from the company:

"Studless tires are standard equipment during your rental period in the Hokkaido season.
So you do not need to request for studless tires."

Hi! I'm not sure about the exact period to experience the peak autumn foliage in Hokkaido, but I've been there some years back in November and I recall some places to be very "autumny" so you may perhaps wish to research on them.

1. Daisetsuzan National Park and Sounkyo
2. Lake Akan and Lake Mashu
3. Hakodate
4. Noboribetsu
