Dear visitor, if you know the answer to this question, please post it. Thank you!

About medication 2023/10/26 23:12
Am I allowed to bring the following medications into Japan?
amoxicillin antibiotics, risperidone
I find the rules about importing medicine into Japan rather confusing and I don't know what to do. Does anyone have experience with bringing their medications to Japan?
Thanks in advance

The short answer is that antibiotics are not a problem, though you are supposed to get government permission if bringing in over 1 month's supply. The big verboten drugs are stimulants and strong opiates.
You are essentially asking a legal question though - and you are legally responsible for what you bring into Japan. I strongly advise you to contact the Japanese government with your question. You can e-mail them and usually get a fairly fast response on non-weekends: yakkan@mhlw.go.jp or you can fax them.

Thank you for your help! I sent an e-mail and several hours later I received an e-mail back saying that all my medicines are okay to bring into the country without paperwork (within the 30 day supply limit).

Thanks again
