I am having difficulty planning and identifying multi-day hikes in Japan for November. It seems that most are one day hikes. It is too late for the Alps and I am looking to stay on Honshu. Without going to the outlying city, I struggle to find a map or information on a multi-day hikes through the national parks. Do these exist? Thanks for your help!

Kumano Kodo is what comes to my mind, although I’m not really a trekker. I have loved day hikes on parts of the Iseji section of Kumano Kodo, but if I were going in November I would probably stick to the much more popular Nakahechi section, which has a lot more resources and is also more suited to multi-day itineraries. It is definitely possible to do it in November, but you have to be prepared for short days, and possibly for some unpleasant walking conditions (if it rains, it could be pretty darn cold…). The Tanabe City Tourism Bureau has an excellent web site: https://www.tb-kumano.jp/en/
