Can I hop off and on on a Shinkansen?

Hello,
I am travelling from Tokyo to Kyoto with a non reserved ticket on a Shinkansen train. Can I get off at a different stop, for example Shin-Fuji, and then get on a different Shinkansen to Kyoto?
Thanks!

The base fare ticket (joshaken) does allow you to get off and on, but you will need separate shinkansen supplement tickets (tokkyuken) for each section travelled.

JR West site says: https://www.jr-odekake.net/railroad/ticket/guide/express_tickets/limit...新幹線の改札口を出なければ、2つ以上の新幹線の列車を途中で乗り継いでも特急料金は新幹線の全乗車区間を通しで計算します。 Google transtates: If you do not exit the Shinkansen ticket gate, the express fare will be calculated based on the entire Shinkansen section, even if you transfer between two or more Shinkansen trains. So if you go from Tokyo to Kyoto, dropping at Shin-Fuji (probably to see Mt. Fuji) and then again get the Shinkansen, you will pay the base fare plus Shinkansen fare for Tokyo to Kyoto.

When the OP says "get off", of course I understand that he/she will leave the station through the ticket gates, in which case multiple express fare tickets are required.
