Takayama Hokuriku Pass to Visit Ghibli Park

I would like to take some question about Takayama Hokuriku pass.
i'm gonna visit Ghibli Park in Nagoya from Kyoto.
When I looked at the Hokuriku Pass map, it showed that the route taken was using the JR line, not using the Shinkansen. Approximately how long will it take me if I don't use the Shinkansen? because i will only visit and not stay in Nagoya

The pass is utterly impractical for making a side trip to Nagoya from Kyoto, because the direct train is not covered. The journey via Toyama would take around 7 hours one way!
