Taking Haruka using Kansai Area Pass

Hi, I'm planning to take Haruka from KIX to Kyoto using Kansai Area Pass.
1) Could I just use the said Pass go thru the ticket gate?
2) How do I use the said Pass to reserve a seat?

Use a ticket machine or go to a ticket windows to get a reserved seat ticket.
