Stops between Okayama to Nagoya

Hey all,

Are there any cool spots between Okayama and Nagoya for a night that aren't Kyoto, Nara, Himeji or Osaka please?

Of course there are. Kobe is a very nice city to visit, and there's enough in Otsu to fill up a day as well. Hikone Castle and the Genkyuen Garden are some other noteworthy sights. Gifu has a few also.

Ultimately it depends on your interests, plus how far from the rail lines you're willing to go.

Is there a reason you left out Kobe which is a beautifully colonial port city?

Or how about going to islands such as Shodosihma or Awaji?

Or why not travel to the Hokuriku region from Maibara? Onsen and seafood is great there.

Omi hachiman
Ise
Oku biwako (eg Makino on the lake shore)
Inuyama
Inujima (I am not sure if you can stay there but it�fs a very interesting island)
Yamatoyagi / Asuka / Sakurai
Dorogawa onsen

To add to the above very good list.

Otsu if you like temples and lake cruises.

Nagahama if you like a mini rail museum, shopping, small castle and ferry to island temple.

Now pondering Osaka, but then use it as a base for a day trip or two to Mt Koya.
