Kintetsu 5 day pass activation

I have purchased a Kintetsu 5 day pass overseas. Upon collection in Nagoya does the pass automatically get activated, or does activation only happen upon first use?
I wish to collect it on a Thursday to use on Friday....will I effectively lose a day this way?

Just tell them at collection which day you want to start it.
