Ifm planning to stay in Nagoya for two days. I have been making a list of museums and shrines Ifll like to visit. Originally I was going to catch a bus, but when I look at google map, there was rental bicycle like cariteco and hello cycle everywhere. Nagoya station doesnt have rental bicycle shop close by. As a foreigner, if I download their app, can I rent the bicycles? Would you have experience with using cariteco or hello cycle?

Hello cycle offers a (partially) English app, and it seems that overseas phone numbers can be used; so I suggest you give it a try.
Cariteco, on the other hand, does not seem to be useable for overseas tourists and those without Japanes ereading skills.

Unfortunately you can NOT register for the hello cycling app without a japanese phone number.
The previous commenter probably assumed that it was possible because there is a dropdown menu for different country codes in the phone no registration pagec however when you try to register with an overseas number an error message pops up in japanese, I screenshotted this and translated it in papago and it says: gwe are very sorry but we are currently unable to authenticate with an overseas phone number. Please use the phone number in japan.h
Getting a japanese phone number isnt that simple afaik and most tourists would just get a data plan or pocket wifi when they visit japan. So for tourists hello cycling probably isnt usable. LUUP accepts authentication from foreign numbers, but you need to be able to receive a text message on your home countryfs mobile number so might be best to setup app registration before you come to japan!
Unfortunately LUUP is much kore expensive but at least theres still some other option for tourists.
