Hotels / Ryokans in Takayama

Hi, I'll be returning to Japan in November. While our focus will be Kyoto and Tokyo, we will be visiting Kanazawa and we are considering 3 days in Takayama. I've looked at many places to stay but thought I'd ask for personal recommendations for Takayama. We don't mind spending a little extra for something special. We won't have a car so prefer to be a bit more central...as long as sites are walkable. Thanks!
