I'm just a casual user but Im also looking to buy a pixel phone but to use in Japan.
AFAIK the phones are unlocked and you can use it overseas. Would you be able to purchase one easily without being a resident? I don't know but it's something to look into.
Japan phones use Felica IC for electronic payments and such. Overseas phones don't have Felica so you can't use it for suica and other contactless payments. Would it be an issue in your country?
Other than that it probably will work fine.

Have you tried contacting Google Pixel Help? I have had good luck getting information from them via phone and online chat a number of times, including once when I phoned them from Japan. The agents I dealt with all seemed to be well-informed, and they had excellent English skills (two qualities that are increasingly hard to come by in customer service agents these days). Since the Pixel 9 has just been released they might be swamped, though.

Thanks for the reply, I think the Felica is another name for NFC, i think it still works oversea, I have the S24 ultra and it works for suica and other Japanese IC cards, it shouldn't be a problem, also I don't use much NFC.
Can you buy the international Pixel 9 pro in Japan.
Thanks.

Hi,
After several long exchanges with Google Help, herefs what Ifve gathered (though therefs always a chance the agent was misinformed):
The specs of the Japan and US versions are the same, including network compatibility. Authorized stores in Japan where you can buy the Pixel 9 include Softbank, Docomo, and KDDI. The warranty is Japan-based. While they can offer a replacement outside of Japan (e.g., the US), they wonft perform repairs since some parts arenft available abroad. For repairs, Ifd need to return to Japan. Since Ifm from Argentina, where the Pixel 9 costs 2-3x more, Ifm considering taking the risk. Worst case: if my ~$1,000 phone fails and can only be repaired in Japan, maybe thatfs just the universe telling me itfs time for another trip to Japan!

I'm considering the google pixel or even the sharp R9, I know the Pixel is a better phone, but I never had a sharp phone before and the R9 isn't available over in Hong Kong The R9 isn't a phone which is locked to a network, in Japan the sharp is available in 3 version.
