I would like to give small Swiss pocket knife as a gift to a host. Any hidden meanings I should know about? Thank you.

Swiss knives are widely recognized as useful tools and somewhat fashionable. The only instance where knives are avoided as gifts is for wedding, as it suggests that they gcuth the ties of the married couple.

I've once been given a quality foreign pair of scissors that had a note saying "These scissors can cut anything except friendship." Perhaps you'd want to attach a similar note ;)
