Stay near Asakusa or elsewhere? Family trip

Hi,
It's been like 15yrs since I go to Tokyo, I enjoyed staying in Asakusa before as it felt "quieter" in the mornings and evenings and it was nice to walk around. Now I'm traveling with family (inc. a 70 yr old & 13 yr old) and I'm trying to pick the right spot.
I want to avoid super noisy/crowed areas with convenient access to the yamamoto line and close to Ueno/Tokyo stations if we need to get taxis due to luggage (arriving to NRT and going to Kansai later via shinkansen).
I was thinking staying near Asakusa (Ginza line) st, but I was wondering if I should consider other areas that are nice to walk around and explore.
Also, any recommendations for mid-range hotels? I was considering the Dormy Inn, but the express near the station does look a bit dingy. Elsewhere we are staying in a ryokans.
Thanks!!!

Not crowded and convenient access are conflicting factors. Area around the station may be crowded, but once you are in your room it is usually quiet. One time I stayed in a room overlooking the station and I was surprised how quiet it was when the window is closed. I would favor the convenient access, between the two.
Asakusa is not served by JR Yamanote line, either. If you plan to take both subways and JR/surface trains, look for stations served by both (or very close to each other). One trip I stayed near Okachimachi station (one station away from Ueno) and it was close to both JR and multiple subway stations - super convenient.

Asakusa is going to be quieter than the Ueno area. Walking the Senso-Ji area in the morning and evening is nice. If you want a switch to a lively science, just wait for the shops to open.
I would definitely stay near the station as you mentioned. You can taxi from/to Ueno when you have luggage or use luggage forwarding to avoid the hassle. Not sure how big you party is, but if it get big enough you might consider Mimaru and booking a family room.
