Hi, where should I go for the snowiest place in Japan next year from 19 January to 2 feburary? flying in n out of tokyo. am willing to travel to a few prefectures, from prefecture to prefecture by air or rail. and renting car for self drive whereever this is recommended.
was in hokkaido (sapporo, furano, biei, hakodate) this year from 3 to 15 february but was disappointed with the few snowy days I had.
So this time really hope to see heavy falling snow all day long and every day!
no skiing. just there to enjoy the snow and cold.
thank you very much in advance.

Snow falls like rain. Ie it isnft predictable with so much anticipation. Look at the weather forecast and then move to a place where it will snow.

Try Hokkaido again. But actually go to a mountainous area.
But almost any mountainous area between Kyoto and Hokkaido.

As for Aomori, be aware that they really refer to the area around Mount Hakkodasan and Sukayu Onsen, which are far outside the city center but happen to be still within the city limits. Central Aomori gets "only" around 70 cm of snow on average in mid winter, which is a little bit less than, for example, Sapporo.

Try the Japanese Alps, especially Nagano and Niigata. Places like Hakuba and Myoko Kogen get heavy snow in January and February. You can easily travel by train from Tokyo to Nagano and rent a car for more remote snowy spots. Enjoy the winter wonderland!
