Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Ticket Validity 2025/3/24 15:46
My family of 3 will be traveling on the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route on 25 April 25 and have booked an overnight stay at Tengudaira Mountain Lodge, as we were unable to secure a hotel at Murodo. My plan is:

April 25: Travel up to Murodo to visit the Snow Wall, then return to Tengudaira for our overnight stay.

April 26: Continue our journey through the Alpine Route towards Ogizawa and then travel to Nagano.

I would appreciate your help in answering the following questions:

1. The Alpine Route web ticket covers travel from Tateyama Station to Ogizawa Station. Can I use it across two separate days (April 25 and 26)?

2. Since the ticket is one-way, how can I return from Murodo to Tengudaira on our first day to check into the lodge?

3. Is it possible to hike back from Murodo to Tengudaira in April? If so, what is the estimated walking distance and time?

4. After our overnight stay at Tengudaira, can we use the same web ticket to continue the rest of the journey to Ogizawa on April 26?

5. We plan to send our luggages from Tateyama Station to Nagano, but since we will be staying overnight at Tengudaira, we wonft be able to collect them on the same day. Can we pick them up the next day instead?

6. If we are unable to book web tickets in advance, can we purchase at Tateyama Station on the day of our visit?

Thank you in advance for your kind assistance!

1. The Alpine Route web ticket covers travel from Tateyama Station to Ogizawa Station. Can I use it across two separate days (April 25 and 26)?

The web ticket is valid for 5 days so no problem.

2. Since the ticket is one-way, how can I return from Murodo to Tengudaira on our first day to check into the lodge?

Buy a return ticket from Murodo to Tengudaira at Murodo terminal. 960 yen.

3. Is it possible to hike back from Murodo to Tengudaira in April? If so, what is the estimated walking distance and time?

It is about 40 min one way, but I donft know whether you are allowed to walk on the bus road.

4. After our overnight stay at Tengudaira, can we use the same web ticket to continue the rest of the journey to Ogizawa on April 26?

From Murodo, yes. From Tengudaira, no. You must have the ticket from Tengudaira to Murodo.

5. We plan to send our luggages from Tateyama Station to Nagano, but since we will be staying overnight at Tengudaira, we wonft be able to collect them on the same day. Can we pick them up the next day instead?

I donft know. But you can send your luggage from your hotel in Toyama (or somewhere on the Tateyama side) to your hotel in Nagano. Normally it will arrive the next day. Your hotel in Nagano will keepis. Note that you should inform the hotel about your luggage.

6. If we are unable to book web tickets in advance, can we purchase at Tateyama Station on the day of our visit?

The most crowded time is before 11:00. If you stay in Tengudaira, you donft need to start early, so, I think it will be no problem.

Hi, I believe you would have completed your trip by now, can I know did you end up purchasing the tickets in person? I am spending a night in Murodo on 15 April 2025 but I am unable to reserve a ticket now as all tickets have been fully reserved for that day. I am worried if I will still be able to secure a ticket in person on that day

Itfs May 2nd so you mean you will travel on May 15th.

This is not a peak season, and it is not weekend, so you can just buy your ticket and get on the cable car (from Toyama side) or the tunnel bus (from Nagano side). If you start very early, you may need to wait at the station for 30 min to 2 hours though. If you will stay the night around Murodo and don't want to wait for long time, you may better start late (at 10:00 or later).

I twice bought Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Ticket and (with which you canft reserve the time) did the trip with no reservation and had no problem.

Re: Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Ticket Validity 2025/5/2 16:51
I just returned from my trip to Tateyama. Like many others, I wasnft able to purchase web tickets in advance. However, I went to Dentetsu Toyama Station just before 6:00 AM (we stayed at a hotel directly opposite the station) to buy same-day tickets and was second in the queue.

There were friendly, multilingual station staff available to assist with any questions. They helped me by circling the time, number of ticket required, payment method on a form, which I could simply hand to the ticketing staff—this really sped up the process. Depending on the length of the queue, the ticket counter may open as early as 6:30 AM.

If you're planning to stay overnight along the Alpine Route, you donft need to compete with the day-trippers. You can buy tickets that begin your journey after 1:30 PM. Just keep in mind: if you're purchasing your ticket at Dentetsu Toyama, the departure time printed on the ticket refers to the time you need to board the Tateyama Cable Car at Tateyama Station, not from Dentetsu Toyama itself.

The ticket is valid for five days, but note that itfs for one-way travel only—itfs not a hop-on, hop-off pass. After boarding the Tateyama Cable Car, you can still stop and explore various points along the route.
