Raku Bus 100, 101 and 102 2006/9/7 18:51
I view the "Kyoto City Bus Sight Seeing Map (5 Major Sight Seeing Route)" from the PDF file in WEB and interest to use "Kyoto City Bus One Day Card" - the 500 Yen one. Anyway I still doubt about :-
1. How to differenciate between "Kyoto City Bus" VS "Kyoto-Bus" ? Understand that the pass is valid on "Kyoto City Bus" only.
2. Can the card be used for all the buses (numbers) specified in the brochure (except Arashiyama area) ?
3. What is the difference between RAKU buses (100, 101 and 102) and other buses ? Is the pass valid on RAKU buses ?

Please advise, thanks.

1. How to differenciate between "Kyoto City Bus" VS "Kyoto-Bus" ? Understand that the pass is valid on "Kyoto City Bus" only.

All the colored bus lines shown on the "Kyoto City Bus Sightseeing Map" are Kyoto City Buses. So, if you use the map to figure out which line passes where, it should be easy to find the correct Kyoto City Bus line.

The actual buses are also colored differently: Kyoto City Buses are generally colored green and Kyoto Buses are colored red, although there are some exception (special colored buses, buses covered by advertising). Actually, some of the Raku Buses are colored differently. But they are also Kyoto City Buses. But again, you should recognize them by their number.

By the way, Kyoto City Buses outnumber other buses in central Kyoto.

2. Can the card be used for all the buses (numbers) specified in the brochure (except Arashiyama area) ?

The "Kyoto City Bus Sightseeing Map" indicates the area within which the one day pass is valid on all Kyoto City Buses. It is the darker green colored area.

3. What is the difference between RAKU buses (100, 101 and 102) and other buses ? Is the pass valid on RAKU buses ?

They are tourist oriented bus lines. Some buses on the Raku lines look a little bit different. Apart from that, they are just regular Kyoto City Bus bus lines, which can also be used with the one day pass.
