Shinkansen - Shinjuku to Nigata 2007/6/28 00:45
First trip to Japan in August. Staying at Tokyo Hilton in Shinjuku. Want to visit Old Characters Toy Museum in Nigata (http://www.zidaikan.com/top/top.html). Does the info on the website state they are closed on Thursdays or only open on Thursdays? Looking at the timetables for the shinkansen, it looks like it is approx 18,000 yen and approx 6 hours. Is this one way or round trip? Any info appreciated. Thanks.

Closed on Thursdays, unless a national holiday falls on Thursday, in which case it is closed the next day.

The museum is located in Kashiwazaki City. The one way train trip from Shinjuku to Kashiwazaki via Nagaoka takes about 4 hours and costs about 9000 Yen.

Hmm, so is that museum still open then? Kashiwazaki via Nagaoka- that would be more like a tour of earthquake-damaged towns.
