Mount Koya 2007/8/2 11:11
I am currently planning an overnight at Mt Koya on Nov 10th. Unfortunately, it seems that there is a car show taking place there that same weekend. I am concerned that the car show will take away from the tranquility of the temples and interfere with the overall visit. I would really like to see and experience Koyasan as it sounds extremely interesting given what I have read, but I could care less about a car show and am concerned that the crowds and atmosphere will diminish the impact of the visit.

Not being familiar with Koyasan, would the cars be displayed around the temples or would they be somewhere away from primary areas and cemetery? Am I just better off skipping Koyasan altogether given this and spending my time elsewhere?

I would change my scheduled day to go to Koyasan, but my itinerary is not very flexible.

Thanks.

Vetro Montagna 2007/8/4 20:42
I see. It's Vetro Montagna, an annual classic car event. Unfortunately to you, this event is widely held in Koyasan since it is organized by Koyasan itself. (meaning local govenment) So, many temples support the event and offer their places (mostly parking lots)for the show. And I can easily imagine that Syukubo (temple lodging) are filled with visitors for this show.

These are some pictures I've found on the net.
