obon week in osaka 2007/8/2 18:32
i'm going to japan on aug 13th and stay for two months. i just found out that the week i arrive is the obon week. as i'm spending that week in osaka i wanted to know if you have any suggestions for visiting certain temples there. i know that obon is mostly a family thing but i'd like to see obon dances for example, maybe there are some public events, too? any ideas?

Bon Odori (Bon dancing) is held widely in August. Check local park/elementary school and you can easily find one.

If you plan to visit Kyoto on 16th, don't miss Daimonji Gozan Okuribi.
