Clumsy translations, but here you go...
1. The sky probably looks so beautiful because you're right beside me.
2. A new friend becomes a good friend and then a trusted friend, and then finally a close friend.
(This loses a lot in translation since all four terms are read "shinyuu" in Japanese.)
