KIX to Kyoto - Kansai Thru Pass 2007/8/8 10:26
I had planned on buying a Kansai Thru Pass once I arrive at Kansai International Airport. Can someone tell me the easiest way to get to Marutamachi station in Kyoto? I looked on hyperdia but it involved a lot of connecting trains and looked potentially confusing. Would it be better if I just pay for a JR train from the airport to Kyoto station?

This following page explains the two options:

1) JR option to JR Kyoto Station (followed by subway ride to Marutamachi)

2) non-JR option by Hankyu Railways to Karasuma Station (followed by subway ride to Marutamachi)

Here is the page:

If you have a JTB (Japanese Travel Bureau) in you city, you can purchase a 1 day coupon that can be traded in when you arrive at KIX.

This should be a little cheaper than buying the tickets from the Kansai counter.

The only requirement is that it is purchased outside of Japan, and that when you redeem it you must show a valid foreign passport.
