Ibusuki Hotel 2007/8/9 03:03
Can anyone suggest a basic hotel for Ibusuki? Should I stay there for 1 night or just a day trip from Kagoshima? I am staying 1 night in Kagoshima too.

I think it's . . . 2007/8/9 10:31
. . . going to be pretty expensive:

And this site usually lists a couple of cheap hotels.

If you plan to soak in the famous sand, you should be able to make it down there and back in a day from Kagoshima, if you don't see anything else. It is a fairly long ride; maybe they have express trains.

Is it worth staying at Ibusuki? I am coming from Kagoshima which is an hour's JR train ride, I think.

Any one have any good tips on Ibusuki Hotel and/or Kagashima Hotel that is not tooooooo expensive?

I'm not sure if it's worth staying in Ibusuki since I've never been there. Anyhow, about accomodations, there're "business hotels" "youth hostel" and "minshiku" in Ibusuki.

I can't . . . 2007/8/10 13:38
. . . tell you what else is in Ibusuki, since the bus tour I took of Satsuma Peninsula totally excluded Ibusuki! I think not enough time to soak under the sand. Next time . . . when I go by rental car.

A fellow traveler spoke highly of the place though.

I can guess there are lots of gift shops and restaurants, a boardwalk/park near the shore, maybe a botanical garden.

So are you saying it is worth an overnight stay? and not just a day trip from Kagoshima?
