I will be coming to Japan in January and February with a few of my mates. Purely recreational trip, we have arranged a 14 day rail pass (doesn't include bullet train and some specific lines). Was wondering how long it would take to go from:

tokyo to Osaka
Osaka to Hiroshima
Osaka to Sapporo (will we have to go by ferry at one point?)
Sapporo to Tokyo

Thanks to anyone that can help me.

What kind of pass is that? I have never heard of it! Are you allowed to ride limited express trains (tokkyu)?

Are you sure you don't confuse the terms "nozomi" and "bullet train"?

Check the following link for train times and duration. Just type in the cities and then the time you wish to depart. Also, make sure to only have the last three items checked (train, except nozomi, and limited express).

Thanks 2007/8/22 17:30
looked over the links given in the first reply. Then went back over the details of the rail-pass. It allows the bullet train except for the Nozomi line. Wasn't reading it correctly.

had seen the other link and put in my destinations and all, but the trips seem so confusing and the times look so much longer than the ones on this site.

Will keep reading the guides on this site and other sites.

Thanks again.
