Can Ryokans hold bags before check in?

My friend and I are traveling to Kyoto, Osaka, and Mt Koya and staying in Ryokans in each city. We want to arrive each in the morning and tour during the day but we dont want to have to carry our medium sized suitcases around all day. Check in time at each of the Ryokans is around the same closing times at the temples that we want to see. Will the Ryokans hold our luggage before check in time or would we be better off trying to find lockers at the train stations? Thanks.

Yes, most ryokan can hold your luggage before check-in. But there may be some exceptions.
