laptops and japanese elctricity

I'm planing on going to a japanese boarding school for a year next september and I would like to have a laptop beacuse computer use there is limited and mostly in japanese. will a canadian laptop work in japan? will i need a electricity convertor or anything speical?

It should work (mine does, also from Canada). However, be careful if your laptop has a third ground plug, because Japanese outlets never have those - if you're like me, then you can bring a power bar from home which uses three prongs or rip off the ground plug (if you don't actually care about it lol).
