Transfer Tohoku to Tokaido Shinkansen?

I'm taking the JR Tohoku Shinkansen from Sendai,and want to get to Shin Osaka on the (Hikari) and need to transfer trains at Tokyo Sta.
I know that they do not use the same platform, so how do I get from the Tohoku platform to the Tokaido platform?

Stan,
You go down the stairs from the platform and look for the big signs saying "Transfer to Tokaido Shinkansen". There will be ticket gates, so you will have to insert your tickets or show your railpass. The platforms are close together, so you don't have far to walk.
