Would it be possible to do a quick stopover at Gero to tr the Ashiyu?
Please advise.
I am going to Kanazawa also, would that be a better connection to Gero?

Yes, it is possible. You can walk from the station to the nearest foot bath in about 5 minutes (ask the tourist office for directions). In other words, you could take a foot bath and be back on the next train one hour later.
Is it worth it? That is personal preference.

Not sure if I understand your question. In any case: the easiest route from Gero to Kanazawa leads via Takayama.

my base is in Nagoya.
I am going to Takayama and Kanazawa on day trips.
Would it be better if I stop at Gero en route to Takayama or Kanazawa?
Is there a map somewhere of where these cities are located?
