JR Pass for round trip Tokyo-Ashikaga 2007/9/12 09:28
Is JR Pass valid for round trip from Tokyo to Ashikaga?

We will take Sunrise JTB tour for Mt Fuji Hakone & Onsen, will stay one night at Yumoto Fujiya Hotel. The tour will return to Tokyo on the next day. But, instead going back to Tokyo, we'll use JR Pass to go to Kyoto and stay one night there, before return to Tokyo using JR Pass for Shinkansen train.

Uji, is it possible to do that?

Thanks

I assume you refer to Ashikaga City in Tochigi Prefecture.

Ashikaga is connected by the JR Ryomo Line, so it is possible to use the JR Rail Pass to go there:

From Tokyo:
Take the Tohoku Shinkansen to Oyama and then the JR Ryomo Line to Ashikaga.

From Nikko:
Take the JR Nikko, Tohoku and Ryomo Lines via Utsunomiya and Oyama.

You can look up timetables here:
