Kyoto, 4 days in November 2007/9/23 11:06
Hajimamashite!!
Oneigaishimasu!!

I will be in Japan for a few weeks in October and November. It is my second time. I have four days in Kyoto for which I have few plans. I would like to do many of the day trips listed on this sight (Higashiyama Walk ) does anyone know of good restaurants along the way?

Any recommendations in general?

Where is a good place for information (in english to be safe)?

Recommendations for a day trip to Osaka?

Many of the maps on the internet of streets or bus routes are nearly impossible to decipher. Does anyone have something simple?

Does anyone have any experience with the Johnnie Hillwalker day trip?

This website. Travel guide books. In Kyoto itself, there is a tourist desk for foreigners on the 9th floor of the station building.

I find this one for Kyoto easy to understand. It helps to actually print it out:

Hillwalker tour 2007/9/23 15:13
Michael - I took the Johnny Hillwalker tour when I visited Kyoto in April '06. I felt that it was very enjoyable and informative as far as the history of Kyoto, the people, religion and some of the small industry that goes on like the making of fans and tofu. He covers a lot of ground. Definitely recommend it! Enjoy!
