From Tokyo to Sendai with JR East Pass

I'm going to Tokyo on October and I have a question about train transportation.
Is it possible to travel with JR east (express) from Tokyo to Sendai? Does that JR East Pass allow me to travel for example from Ueno to Sendai?

Yes, JR East Pass is valid. But with the JR East Pass do not use the 4 h 30 min long ride on a JR Ltd Express train but use the 2 h long ride by shinkansen. No surcharge for shinkansen with JR East Pass.
