Where can I get detailed maps of Osaka, Kyoto and Nara in english that show street names, hotels, etc?
Preferably in pdf format

You can get a PDF map of most tourist cities in Japan at JNTO website.

Although they only show the names of major streets, I used infomap japan. They have PDF maps that show most hotels and attractions. For example, nara can be found at

http://www.infomapjapan.com/sight_Nara.phtml
