Hi - Is the Surutto Kansai Pass the same as the Kansai Thru Pass?
And is this available on the Haruka railway between Kyoto and Kansai International Airport?
If not, what's the quicket and most economical way to get from Kyoto to the airport?

The JR Haruka cannot be used with the NON-JR Surutto Kansai Pass. You can use the JR Haruka with the one day JR West Rail Pass Kansai Area at Yen 2000. ( Regular fare from Kyoto to KIX on JR Haruka is Yen 3500 ) Yes JR Haruka is a very good connection between Kyoto and KIX.

I wonder if many of the people asking questions on railway passes aren't confused between JR (formerly Japanese National Railways) and all the other Japanese railways companies (that are private companies and have nothing to do with JR). so many people asking questions about rail passes don't seem to have actually read the information provided on this site under transportation and also the info on the JR sites as many of the questions asked are clearly explained. The info on passes in Japan-guide.com clearly indicates on which railways such and such passes can be used and also compare passes. JR info on their own passes is very detailed and explicit and in several languages. What more do you want? it would be nice too if people checked previous posts. by now there must be hundreds of posts asking the same questions about JR passes ....

Is the Surutto Kansai Pass the same as the Kansai Thru Pass? The "Kansai Thru Pass" is available to foreign tourists only. A pass by the name of "Surutto Kansai Pass" does not exist. There are "Surutto Kansai 2-Day Tickets" and "Surutto Kansai 2-Day Tickets", which are quite similar to the Kansai Thru Pass, except that they are also available to residents of Japan. All the details are here: http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2357_005.htmlAnd is this available on the Haruka railway between Kyoto and Kansai International Airport? No, as mentioned by others, the Haruka is a JR train. If not, what's the quicket and most economical way to get from Kyoto to the airport? Here are your options: http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2363.html?aFROM=2033_2158

I'm well aware of the difference b/w JR and private railways - just didn't realise Haruka is a JR train.
Thanks for so kindly pointing this out.
