Traveling to shikoku from kyoto/osaka

I am an American living temporarily in kyoto. I am trying to figure out the best and cheapest way to get from kyoto to naruto, shikoku. should i travel by ferry, train, or bus? also can anyone tell me just where mount koya is? thanks so much.

The bus is the best option. Direct buses take 2 hours and 20 minutes from Kyoto Station to Naruto Park. The one way fare is 3650 yen. There are seven buses per day:
