Cheap Accomodation near Kyoto Station?

Any recommendation for an affordable accomodation within walking distance to Kyoto Station? Preferably a room with attached private bath and toilet. Thanks.

i was in kyoto earlier this month and stayed with this hostel. Nothing fancy but cheap, clean and convenient. My partner and i got a Western room with attached toilet for JPY7,770/ night

I was in Kyoto just last week. I stayed in Palace Side Hotel. It's not close to the station but it's 1 min walk from the Subway Marutamachi Station (10 min from Kyoto station). It's cheap, especially for long staying, and it's clean. All rooms have private bath and there is also a communal kitchenette and a laundromat. We reserved our room from Italy by internet www.palacesidehotel.co.jp.

It's about a ten minute walk and very clean. I stayed there two years ago with my family and we would stay there again. Clean, simple but spartan by international hostel standards.

There are many 5000 yen ryokans just north of the station. Less than 10 minute walk
