Where to spend new years

Just a couple of questions in regards to new years.
Would it be redicolously busy in bars and clubs in Tokyo and more enjoyable somewhere smaller like Kyoto? (i'm a 23 year old male who plans on going out that night)
Secondly, will it be very difficult to travel on the 1st of January from Kyoto to Tokyo.
Hope im not being to vague.

I don't think bars and clubs in Tokyo are busy. Instead, they may be closed for the new year holiday. (at least on Jan 1st)
It is not difficult to travel from Tokyo to Kyoto on Jan 1st. Most people move on Dec 30-31st.
