Questions on Nikko in Late dec 2007/10/29 22:03
Hi, I'm thinking of going to Nikko on a day trip on 20 Dec. Is it a bad time to go due to the cold season?

Also, once I'm finished with the temples, are there any other places nearby within easy walking distance that i can go to? Read about Tamozawa Villa and Gamman-Ga-Fuji Abyss, these place are easy to walk to from the temples? Worth a look?

I am still deciding between the different passes. Some goes to kinugawa, yumoto, chuzenji, kirifuri heights. Are these places scenic and interesting enough to have a look? Will it be too cold then in Dec?

Thanks

very cold 2007/10/30 11:36
Nikko is very cold with possibility of some snow in late Dec. Unless your purpose is to have a nice, hot spring bath or to ski there, you will have to be put up with the cold.

If it is that cold, I think I will not go to Nikko then.

I'm also going to Hakone. Is Hakone as cold as Nikko?

Hakone is at a lower elevation than Nikko and is generally warmer.
