I was looking in a website that sold anime and it had a section for idols and junior idols. Are these popular in Japan? What are they about? How does one become a junior idol?

There is some people who likes this (Incluiding me), and there's people who dislikes this. The Japanese Junior Idols aren't popular, well, not here, they're popular in Japan.
