hi all,

I can't seem to find any conclusive answers on the web,so,if anyone can help, thanks!
If you want to use the word "sound" in ways such as "sound of a voice" or "what did his voice sound like?" that sort of thing, which word/structure is used? Also, the use of "chou" what exactly does it mean?
Thanks to any help!

"What did his voice sound like?" can be expressed as ("kare no koe" = his voice) "Kare no koe wa dou deshita ka?" (How was his voice?). Or if you mean as in a musical performance, you could say "Kare no koe no hibiki wa dou deshita ka?" (How did his voice resonate?) Or if you mean "What did his voice sound similar to? (similar to a bird? to a frog? or to a crow?)" then it could be "Kare no koe wa nani ni niteimashita ka?" "How was the tone of his voice?" could be "Kare no koe no choushi wa dou deshita ka?" etc., etc.

This "chou"? 2007/11/14 22:28
About "chou," if you mean as in "chou kawaii!" (Real cute!) then it is a prefix meaning "extremely...," or "super...." which found widespread use in colloquial speech.
