New DoCoMo 905i works in 154 countries?

I just read that the New DoCoMo 905i phone can be used in 154 different countries as they now implement GSM/SIM cards.

I go to Japan quite often, but it is always a hassle to use two different phones. So if its true, I would like to buy one this New Year's when I go, but does anyone know which models are with the above specifications? Also, do I need to open a DoCoMo account?

Unless you are a resident of Japan you can't legally purchase a mobile phone.

Regardless, the Docomo phone can work in 154 countries if your service provider is Docomo. That doesn't mean that the phone will be compatible with your local service provider. And generally speaking, Japanese phones are notoriously difficult if not impossible to unlock.
