Baggage delivery 2007/11/29 05:25
How does luggage delivery work? I have never used it before. In the past I have always lugged my bags through the train stations and then took a cab or felt like a fool walking down the street with luggage.

My main questions are...

1. On arrival in Japan (KIX), how do I schedule baggage delivery to the apartment where I will be staying (Osaka)?

2. About what does it cost?

3. Do you tip the baggage handlers? (I assume not)

4. When I leave Japan, how do I arrange to have my bags taken back to the airport? Do they pick up at the apartment?

5. Where/when would would the bags be delivered at the airport?

6. What sort of info will I need to have the bags delivered? (both arriving and leaving) I will need to know this so that I can learn how to communicate these things in Japanese.

Cost varies depending on the size of luggage, somewhere between 1500-2500 yen and the luggage is generally delivered on the next day. You can arrange pick-up service when you send your luggage from the airport or you can call them later. No tip necessary.
All you need is address and phone number of your apartment and your depature date/flight number (for airport delivery).
