Can someone advise how to get to Mt Fuji from Osaka? Possible by bullet train and what is the ticket price? Thanks!

The mountain Fuji has no own railway station. You can either visit the area Fuji Five Lakes and have access to the bottom of the mountain ( no climbing recommended in winter ) or you can visit Hakone area with a fine view of Fuji san on a clear cloudless day. There are buses from Tokyo station and Shinjuku station for Fuji five lakes and there is the shinkansen from ShinOsaka to Odawara as access to Hakone area. This, preferably hikari, shinkansen is Yen 12 000 and a further Yen 3 900 for Hakone Free Pass. But see detailed information in this japan-guide under travel.

Shin-Osaka to Shin-Fuji 2007/12/5 13:16
Another option is to take the shinkansen from Shin-Osaka to Shin-Fuji station. From Shin-Fuji, there are buses to Fujinomiya 5th station. This is at the southern slope of Mount Fuji. However, this area isn't at built up tourist-wise as the Kawaguchi area on the other side of the mountain.

If you aren't climbing the mountain, then there really isn't a point to coming to Fujinomiya 5th via Shin-Fuji. However, if you are interested in climbing Mount Fuji (during climbing season of course), Fujinomiya 5th is the quickest route up the mountain.
