Look up kanji 2007/12/21 04:25
How do you look up kanji? I have seen a few that I do not know how to pronounce even, so I can't check my dictionary...

There are special Kanji dictionaries where you can look them up by the number of strokes, or by the different common parts that are in them (called radicals).

The newer electronic dictionaries (including the one for nintendo ds, and many free PDA programs) have touchpads where you can write the kanji and look it up that way (sooooo much faster and more convenient).

You can also look them up on your computer.
For instance, the Microsoft IME Tools for japanese writing also have a handwriting pad included - it's a bit difficult to draw with a mouse though. :)
You can also look up Kanji's with the help of online dictionaries, SKIP-codes, stroke counts and radicals.
