ok , whats the time differnce beetweeen california and japan ?
Which one is ahead ? For example if its 12 hours differnce is japan 12 hours ahead or behind ?

Japan is 17 hours ahead of California.
Since daylight savings isn't observed in Japan, come spring Japan will be 16 hours ahead.

In Japan, it's a day ahead of North America because of the Interational Date Line. For example, if the date were January 4th in California, it would be January 5th in Japan.
