Hi...plan to visit Kyushu next Feb 2009, need advise on....
1. ideal number of days to visit the place.
2. recommendation on places of interest, food, shopping...etc...

ideal number of days to visit the place.Between 2 days and one month, depending on how much time you have and how much you want to see. For a simple circle of the island, visiting the main sights along the way, 7-10 days are good. recommendation on placeshttp://www.japan-guide.com/list/e1108.htmlMajor sights currently missing in the above linked guide are Kirishima National Park (highly recommended for natural landscapes), the Satsuma Peninsula (for good onsen, incl. sand baths), Kurokawa and Yufuin Onsen (two of Japan's best onsen towns).
