Requirements for Tourist Visa

Hi,
I am on an intra company transferee visa for a period of one year. I ahve applied for my wifes COE at the Japanese Consulate in India and it would take approx one month to arrive. In the mean time, I would like to bring her here.
a) Should I go for a Tourist Visa... or a Temporary Visitors Visa? I understand a Temp Visitors Visa is for Business Purposes only.. and all other remaining things like tourism.. visiting husband falls under Tourist Visa. Is tht true??
b) Once my wife`s COE has been processed, at tht point of time, she ll be here in Japan. Can her COS be done here itself... or does she need to re enter.
c) Is the tourist visa always for 90 days... or could it be shorter..?? Since I would want it to be for 90 days...any precaution I should take in this regard..??
d) Last question! - At the time my wife enters, wht questions could the immigration officer ask her.. is it necessary to hv a minimum amount of forex she should be carrying to prove tht she is a tourist.. or is it sufficient if she tells tht her husband would be supporting her....

A Temporary Visitors Visa is a tourist visa.
They are one in the same.

She should be able to apply for a "change of status of residence" within Japan.
Is the tourist visa always for 90 days... or could it be shorter..?? Since I would want it to be for 90 days...any precaution I should take in this regard..??
It could be shorter. In particular, 15-day visa are often issued to people, who don't need the full 90 days. So, make sure to provide a reason why she needs to be in the country for the full 90 days.
