Hakuba Ski Resorts, Linked? 2008/1/23 09:13
My understanding is that Hakuba is sort of the whole ski area and within it are numerous small villages or individually named ski areas, is that right? do the individual areas eg; Happo-one, Goryu, 47 etc all exist as seperate villages with their own hotels, shops, bars, reastaurants etc? or is it one village at the bottom of the valley and the mountain/ski areas are the seperate named places?
Are the ski areas interlinked on the mountain, ie you can ski between them or do you have to come back down to the valley and catch some form of transport to get to a different area?

Valley 2008/1/23 16:25
There is the main town of Hakuba which is really at the base of Happo, but there are lots of buildings, hotels, etc scattered right up the valley. Only Goryu and Hakuba 47 are linked.

Hotel location? 2008/1/24 10:35
So if we're staying at the Hotel Mominoki where exactly is it? in Hakuba or in one of the specific ski areas? From the hotels location map it still isnt clear... Does anyone have any experience of this hotel and where it is located in relation to the ski slopes (can you walk to lifts or do you have to get a bus? can you ski back to the hotel?) how is it located for bars/restaurants/shops etc?
Any info appreciated.

The hotel is located at the very base of Happo-one ski resort:

There are buses and shuttle buses to other resorts from the Happo town center. Maybe even the hotel offers shuttle buses. They seem to pick up guests from Hakuba Station, so I would not be surprised if they also shuttle their guests to the various nearby resorts. And again, Happo-one can even be reached on foot.

------Hakuba Ski Resorts, Linked? -------

47 and Goryu resembles Kloster and Davos looking at the map here. and the rest set up like Aspen, Snowmass, Highland and Buttermilk in Aspen where you hop on the bus and go to different resorts except Hakuba is in stretch of about 20 miles.
